WJUL Tower Sites
Station engineer Tony Janeczek has kindly provided photos of the
current WJUL tower in Lowell. The tower is located atop Fox Hall of
UMass Lowell (formerly the University of Lowell, hence the callsign).
This tower was erected in March of 1994, and is 90 feet tall. The
antenna is a Shively model 6810 half-wave directional antenna,
protecting co-channel WMFO in Medford and first-adjacent WPAA in
Andover. Tony notes the following antennas on the elevator penthouse:
- STL receive (stereo program and FM transmitter control)
- RPU receive antenna (omni) for field audio
- 450 MHz Yagis (three), field audio relay (two), transmitter
telemetry (one)
